Are you left (positive) or right (negitive) brained?

“the brain takes its shape from what the mind rests upon.” Rick Hanson, Ph.D.

What does this mean? The more you use the positive side of your brain, the left side of your pre-frontal cortex the more you will seek things of a positive and happy nature. Positive gets more positive. We are constantly subjected to negative and unhappy events and images through-out our daily lives.

The media focuses on all things negative happening around us. Why is that? Maybe it’s time for a shift. This constant bombardment of negativity keeps the right side of your brain, the right side of your pre-frontal cortex growing. To counteract this we need to seek more positivity on a daily bases. Where can we find positive?

If you can’t look around and find something positive, create your own by smiling. An experience that makes you smile will increase the serotonin in your brain, an antidepressant that your body generates when you’re happy. Never underestimate the power of something as simple as a smile.

“Positive starts with a smile”.

Please have a great and positive day!
